Our Fedora Ambassador was giving an introduction of Fedora OS, the four foundation, and the possibility of building a new local community for Cambodian people across the country.

At the end of the panel discussion, they would like to test the Fedora live, so we have delivered another 15 DVDs of Fedora 20 and more than 50 Fedora stickers, which our Fedora Ambassador was holding have been delivered as well.

This event was our second successfully event, which we have gathered more than 40 people to get to know Fedora. Again as promised, we will organize a series of training, because without a proper training, we could not build a strong community for Fedora people. With both technical and funding support from Fedora Project and the upstream Red Hat, we would not achieve this much. We would like to say thank to Gnokii and Tuanta, who have always supported us during our journey.

Our First Fedora Event in Cambodia

Fedora was the very first introduced to Cambodia during the FOSSASIA 2014 by Tuanta from Vietname and Gnokii from Germany. Two Cambodians became an official Fedora Ambassador in the mid of March 2014.

Not for too long, We had been organized our first Fedora event by our own at the Open House Phnom Penh (DevInnoExpo) organized by the Development Innovations on March 11, 2014. There were about 400 participants in various sectors such as students, NGOs, Business and Government.

Before the official launch in about 10 minutes, we received special guests–the minister of Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, H.E. DR. HANG CHUON NARON, and Chief of Party of Development Innovations, Ms. Greta Greathouse at our booth.

Introducing Fedora to Minister of Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport

We were provided a booth with one LCD Monitor at no charge to do the first demo for our guests to test and kickoff with Fedora user interactions. It was a little bit strange for them, since Fedora is the new OS to them. Most Cambodian people are familiar with Windows and Mac OS, therefore they are so interested in Fedora, which we had about 50 people signed up with our newsletter. They wish to hear what’s new about Fedora.

We had been delivered more than 100 stickers, brochures and buttons to group and individual guests, who have visited our booth. There were 15 DVDs of Fedora 20 to our guests those tent to know more about Fedora just for testing the Fedora OS.
